I had my first vocal lesson yesterday!
It went as such.
Stretch:
-you need to stretch your chest, abs, and back
Breath Training:
-breath in for 12 seconds at a steady pace to full, and let it out for 12 secs also at a steady pace
-do the same, but this time try to push the air down to your stomach
Control:
-'OHs' for your range (5 whole tones down)
-'MEs' for small push (3 notes, 2 whole tones separation)
-'Howling' (ex. C-G-F-E-D)
Songs:
She asked me what songs do I want to try, and I thought that I could show her 2 songs.
Boulevard of Broken Dream by Green Day
and Skyfall by Adele.
Needless to say, she told me to work with Green Day.
Notes:
-avoid what she calls 'pulsing' between words. Sing the sentence as if you were actually speaking.
-The chorus is like the thesis of a paper, it needs to be the most prominent part of the song.
-use different parts to compliment the chorus. (such as leading into it, like a crescendo)
Oh yeah, and my range according to Miss Kim is C-D.
The 'D' is obviously the 2nd octave, and not the first, XD.
EDIT:
-remember the stomach/chest/head voices = low/neutral/high
